On Jeffrey's office wall is a photo of Gilbert R. Hill who played Inspector Todd. Hill passed away in 2016.

When Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) goes over Axel's three other cases in Beverly Hills, he mentions that the third "wasn't his finest hour", which is referencing Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), that Eddie Murphy despised and is the lowest rated of the series.

One of the two cops who arrest Axel Foley, is Eddie Murphy's daughter Bria L. Murphy.

Talking about making the film to People magazine, Eddie Murphy said, "It was a hard one. I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore. It was an action movie. So it was a rough one. But we got through it." For the record, Murphy was 23 when he did Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and is now 63 in Axel F.

Judge Reinhold's first role after a six and-and-half year hiatus.

Continuity

When Axel tears a page from the organizer at Rosewood's office, he folds it and puts it in his back pocket. The next time he checks that page, it's clear that it has never been folded.

(at around 1h 28 mins) At the golf course when trying to swipe some car keys, the attendant asks Foley to show some ID; Foley then says he doesn't have any. However, about six minutes earlier, he had picked up his gun and badge while breaking out of the station.

When Axel shows the paper torn from Rosewood's organizer, it's clearly not the same one shown in previous shots. In the first shots, daily items are written with a marker pen. In the next shot, the items are in ball point pen, and it is not the same size paper.

(at around 1h 28 mins) It can can be seen that the key box is open and the car keys could be stolen. When the security guard leaves the key box, the key box is closed.

When Axel and Mike watch Junior from the stands, Junior is to the right of them, but when they come from the stands, they approach him from the left.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Jane wears a necklace with the letter 'M'. This doesn't match her first or last name. However, it could match a close friend's name, a grandmother's name, the school she attended, or many other possibilities.

(at around 23 mins) The two thugs are looking for an SD card's whereabouts but do not look at an appointment book with possible clues laying on top of the desk. However, the thugs in Rosewood's office didn't look at the planner, because they were only searching for the SD card.

Revealing mistakes

(at around 22 mins) The truck is on a trailer to pivot like it does.

(at around 23 mins) The door has been "kicked in", yet the striker plate magically remains in the door jamb.

(at around 25 mins) Water splashes onto the camera lens.

(at around 1h 41 mins) There is "blood" on the camera lens.

Miscellaneous

When Abbott first meets Axel in his office, the crime scene log has Taggart's name misspelled as "Taggert".

Character error

(at around 24 mins) Over his lifetime, Axel apparently has developed a super-human tolerance to pepper spray.

Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) is the first movie to show a romantic interest, and no child is ever mentioned in any of the previous films. That movie was 30 years prior (as confirmed when Bobby is going over Axel's file), but he says, very confidently, that his daughter is 32 years old. If her mother is Janice from BHCIII, she couldn't be more than 29 years old.

Axel claimed, "I've been a cop for 30 years, but I've been black for a lot longer." This movie comes 39 years after the original, where Axel had already been a cop for some time.

Axel mentions Grant wears $2000 shoes. At some point later, he brings up the shoe value again, but they're only worth $1000.
