The Scorpion King (2002)
In ancient Gomorrah, thousands of years before the Pyramids, the remaining free nomadic tribes are forced to form an uneasy alliance to put an end to mighty King Memnon's reign of tyranny. One of the few survivors and the last of the Akkadians, the brave assassin, Mathayus, is entrusted with the impossible task of executing Memnon's fortune-telling sorceress, Cassandra, only to find himself up against a seemingly indestructible evil army. Now, with the help of his new powerful allies, including the great warrior, Balthazar, Mathayus returns to the legendary city to infiltrate Memnon's impenetrable fortress in the desert and exact his revenge. Is Mathayus destined to be the next Scorpion King?
"Warrior. Legend. King."
The Sorceress: If you face Memnon, you'll die! That is your destiny.
Mathayus: I make my own destiny.

In one scene, Dwayne Johnson, lying on his back, springs to his feet. Director Chuck Russell wanted to include a physical feat which only Johnson could perform. Russell said he had never seen a 6-foot, 3-inch man do that.
Dwayne Johnson's $5.5 million salary made the Guinness Book of Records for the highest salary for a first-time leading man.
In 1995 Egyptologists discovered a 5400 year old limestone carving in Egypt known as the "Scorpion Tableau." It depicts the victory of a ruler called the Scorpion King in a battle that unified Upper Egypt, which was a prelude to the complete unification of Upper and Lower Egypt by Narmer, the first Pharaoh of Egypt. This film is a fictionalized depiction of a historical event about which very little is known. Some historians believe that Narmer, the first Pharaoh, was himself The Scorpion King.
Dwayne Johnson has said that to give the Scorpion King character a life of its own, he intentionally shied away from using any trademarks of his WWF character, The Rock. The only exception was "The People's Eyebrow," which he does in response to another character's reference to a harem. He said he included it to acknowledge the "millions and millions" of Rock fans. The score briefly includes The Rock's entry music.
While filming the fight scene between Mathayus and Balthazar, Michael Clarke Duncan accidentally leaned too far forward, allowing Dwayne Johnson's elbow to make direct contact with his jaw, knocking him to the ground.
Continuity
Mathayus throws a rope from the top of the wall down to his camel, and it hits the camel. After he climbs down, the rope is a few feet shorter.
When Mathayus is shot in the leg with an arrow, its length changes between when it breaks off and when he pulls it out.
When Mathayus fights the man with the flaming swords, the swords go out twice.
When Mathayus takes the sorceress down the bath drain with him, he leaves his sword behind on the bottom of the bath. The next day, in the desert, he has his sword back.
After Mathayus uses the catapult to escape from the wizard's room, the catapult resets itself as it if had never been fired.
Factual errors
In the desert, Philos announces that all he needs to finish his explosives is "Peter of Salt", which is found everywhere around him. Saltpeter is found naturally in caves and dry, rocky areas, not the desert.
Revealing mistakes
When Mathayus pulls a naked Cassandra out of the fountain, her flesh-colored shorts are visible, and somewhat see-through.
Early in the film, the scar on Balthazar's right cheek is coming loose.
Although set in primitive times some 5,000 years ago, the women have shaved legs and armpits.
Anachronisms
Philos the Alchemist has gunpowder, which he claims is from China. Chinese "firepowder" was developed in the mid-200s BCE, and the movie is set almost 3,000 years before that.
A merchant in Gomorrah offers swords from Pompeii. Gomorrah was destroyed at least 1,000 years before Pompeii existed.
Someone in the snow-covered opening scene mentions Mycenaeans, a culture which didn't exist yet when the movie takes place.
Crew or equipment visible
In the Gommorah market, when the lady tells Mathayus about the birds, a cameraman in a white shirt is crouching over a black object behind her, to the right.
When Mathayus walks into the rebel camp, a cameraman in a white T-shirt and black cap crawls towards him.
When the ending fight begins, Balthazar engages the first fighters. The cameras pans too far right and you can see a production flag.
Errors in geography
Mathayus and his brother travel a very short distance from the snow-covered land to the Middle East.
According to ancient writings, Gomorrah was one of many towns that once existed on the site of the modern Dead Sea. The area is much too small for the mammoth metropolis portrayed in the movie.
