Continuity

In the previous installment of the series, Dale Midliff's hair is light brown with gray at the temples. In this installment, his hair is black again.

In a scene including Trent (John Savage), Sonny says to his brother, Jeff, that he is trying to make money so he can buy a ranch for him (Jeff) and his little brother. The little brother is never referred to again; even after Sonny's death, no little brother turns up or is mentioned.

Anachronisms

In an outdoor scene toward the end of the movie there is a long, flowing airplane track streaking across the sky.

Character error

The name of Missie's and Willie's baby is named Matthew "Mattie" Isaiah LaHaye. Although in the credits of the movie it says Nathan Isaiah LaHaye. This is most likely due to Missie's and Willie's son being named Nathan Isaiah in the books.
