Jane: Oh! It's official! We are having an affair!
Jake: Why do you need to label everything?
Jane: Because that's what this is!

Meryl Streep had asked her alma mater, Vassar College, if they could film the college graduation scenes on their campus. They refused even though Streep serves on their Board of Trustees and two of her children attend there.
In the scene where Jane answers a phone call from her daughter Lauren, she is clearly surprised by Jake who kisses her causing her to say "You're still on the phone" instead of "You're still on the plane." This was a genuine reaction from Meryl Streep who did not expect Alec Baldwin to kiss her. Nancy Meyers had directed Alec to kiss Meryl since it would be something Jake would do. Fortunately, Streep kept the scene going and incorporated her mistake therefore the scene could be kept in the movie.
In the movie Jane teases Jake about being an old father and being almost 80 when a potential child graduates college since his second wife wants to have a baby. Shortly after making the movie Alec Baldwin who plays Jake married a younger woman and has several children with her. In real life he will be over 80 when his youngest graduates college.
Hermes noticed an uptick in sales of their scarves as Meryl Streep wears three of them during the course of the film.
Alec Baldwin said on the Late Show with David Letterman (1993) that a body double was used for his nude scene.
Continuity
In the scene where Jake is eating ice cream from a parfait glass while Jane is relaxing in the bathtub, the ice cream changes from almost empty back to almost full.
Soon-to-be son-in-law Harley fills a glass of wine to the brim, but in the next shot as he raises it to his lips it is only 2/3 full.
When Jane is telling her 3 friends that she is having an affair with Jake her hair switches from down around her face to swept back and keeps switching back and forth each time she is shown on screen.
When Jane asks Harley if he wants a toke from her pot in the bathroom, the cigarette along with the lighter are in her left hand. But in the next shot, the cigarette is in her right hand.
During the scene when Jane is talking to her three children in the bedroom, Luke's hairstyle visibly changes from shot to shot.
Factual errors
When Jake is on the bed talking to the doctor he says he's taking Flomax, he explains to Jane if he didn't he'd be peeing 40 times a day .Flomax is used by men to help them pee, not prevent it.
Revealing mistakes
In the part of the movie where Jane waits outside the Santa Barbara Medical Building for her therapist, there is a sign that says Mission Pharmacy. In real life it is a restaurant called The Wine Cask. You can see wine bottles displayed through the glass door of the supposed pharmacy.
In many shots during the rainstorm sequence, the background is obviously in full sunlight and several characters cast shadows as they run toward house.
Audio/visual unsynchronised
When Jane and Adam are looking over the plans together at her house, Adam asks "Have you lived here long?" but his mouth isn't moving.
Crew or equipment visible
In the last scene, Adam has a visible earpiece.
Character error
When Jane and Adam put the croissants in the oven, they are much too close together. Croissants expand over double as they cook, and they would have stuck together. As a baker, Jane would know this.
In the scene where Adam is trying on clothes, he tries on a sweater that he refers to as gray. It is clearly brown.
