Ursula Andress has spoken in interviews about how tame the bikinis were in this film.
Initially Ursula Andress was somewhat aloof with Elvis Presley, having read and believed some scurrilous newspaper stories about him. However, as filming progressed, they got to like each other and were even linked in gossip columns as being an item (which they weren't). Elvis has hoping to be reunited with his first love, Priscilla Presley, and was so nervous about succumbing to Andress's charms that he instructed his entourage to never leave him alone with her.
Elvis Presley was reportedly so intimidated by Ursula Andress' athletic physique, that he was reluctant to be filmed without his shirt on.
Teri Garr made her uncredited movie debut as an extra in this film. She would go on to appear as an uncredited extra in four more Elvis Presley movies before becoming a full-fledged actress.
Elvis Presley didn't film in Acapulco and a stunt double was used. Elvis himself was barred from entering Mexico as he had been declared as "persona non grata" by the Mexican government due to two incidents at the Las Americas movie theatre in the Mexican capital, one of them being a brawl between Elvis's fans and naysayers. The main cause was comments made by Elvis allegedly saying that he refused to perform live in Mexico, as he found the country distasteful as a whole and would've preferred to "kiss three African Americans than a single Mexican." Elvis did not in fact say this. It was reported that a Mexican politician started this rumour because Elvis would not give a private concert for his daughter and her friends.
Continuity
Elvis Presley dives into the inlet and swims across to the diving side. He got out of the water and his hair is combed. He climbs to the top and makes his spectacular dive. He climbs out of the water again and his hair is still combed.
Immediately after Mike's high dive his hair is wet in the water, but moments later after climbing up to the landing his hair is perfectly combed.
After Mike's fight with the rival lifeguard, the rival lifeguard holds his shoulder and appears to be in great pain and collapses. But after Mike's dive, the rival lifeguard appears with his hand bandaged, claiming Mike has a hard jaw (meaning he broke his hand on Mike's jaw). His shoulder appears to be fine.
Shortly before Mike Windgren performs "Marguerita," he is sitting in the balcony having a drink with Raoul and Marguerita, the straw in Mike's glass changes position.
Factual errors
When Elvis Presley and Ursula Andress's characters are at La Perla they order two margaritas. But what they are brought bear no resemblance to the actual drink.
Revealing mistakes
Several times during the drive with Doloris, Elvis Presley' body double is clearly visible.
