Plot Synopsis

The end of the road begins. Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast and Furious Saga, launches the final chapters of one of cinema's most storied and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same core cast and characters as when it began. Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they've ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who's fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything-and everyone-that Dom loves, forever. In 2011's Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn't know was that Reyes' son, Dante (Aquaman's Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. Dante's plot will scatter Dom's family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante's vengeance.

The word family is said 56 times in this film.

Michelle Rodriguez and Charlize Theron filmed their fight scene without a director.

When Jakob tells little Brian that he has friends in high places, that was likely a nod to the late Paul Walker: his daughter Meadow Walker plays the Flight Attendant who assist them on their mission.

The movie's budget was reported to be around $280 million - $300 million, however it was revised to be approximately $340 million, according to individuals with knowledge of the production. That's 70% more than the reported $200 million budget for F9: The Fast Saga (2021), making Fast X easily the most expensive entry in the franchise.

On November 7th, 2021. Vin Diesel posted a picture on Instagram of Dwayne Johnson, about ending their fight and trying to bring him back to the Fast family for the last chapter(s).

Continuity

At 1:41:25, when Vin Diesle is confronting Jason Momoa on the freeway, as Momoa holds Jordana Brewster hostage, there's a quick "shot, reverse shot sequence", switching between cameras recording from the front, and back of Momoa. From the front, Momoa has Brewster's arm twisted behind her back with Brewster's elbow tucked behind her. But when it changes to the rear camera, Momoa has a totally different grip on her, with Brewster's elbow up in the air.

Factual errors

Lifts cannot fail in the way shown. The instant the tension in the cables drops the brakes engage and the car is then held in place by its own weight. The lift would have dropped a few feet at most and more likely only inches.

No passenger airplane has a bomb tray-type opening in the fuselage.

Even a one-ton bomb rolling down the street cannot cut through the chassis of a bus, separate it in two pieces and continue on its way.

While appreciating the merits of Artistic Licence, one sometimes balks at egregious examples. (At ~0:22:50.) Landing on top of another person does not save you after falling many stories.

In Japan, they do not sell Hyundai or Kias although the company is a sponsor as you see them throughout the Japan scenes.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

A car door would not be thick and strong enough to protect from a bullet shot from an marksman rifle, even at such a distance. A marksman rifle is only as potent as the ammunition that's loaded. In this case, low powered, as evidenced by failing to penetrate either the ballistic vests or the car door. (01:43:43)

When Dom is harpooned by the two helicopters he is driving a rear-wheel drive car. They lift the rear wheels off the road yet he is somehow still able to overpower them. Once his rear wheels left the road there was nothing he could do, he would have just been a passenger. The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee is not only 4WD, it has electric motors on all four wheels. This one has been altered to look like Dom's regular ride.

The bomb in the truck in Rome is described as "a DM-79 subnautical high yield neutron mine". Neutron weapons are designed detonate with a massive burst of radiation with a lower (relatively) explosive yield than a conventional nuclear weapon. So when the 'mine' detonates in the Tiber anyone near the explosion, including Dom, would have been exposed to a lethal dose of radiation. Not lethal at all. Water is a very effective shielding medium against neutrons. Afterwards, a thorough shower, like James' and Honey Ryder's.

No one heard the helicopter approach the site of the accident and two agency personnel get shot without reacting to the potential threat. They reacted. They fell down.

Despite entering the house to search for Letty and B and "need(ing) them alive" the paramilitary use real bullets. It is unlikely that any paramilitary force anywhere would agree to breach with blanks in their weapons.

Revealing mistakes

Pulling one cord behind a random desk shuts all the lights off.

Miscellaneous

In the bar fight scene, to end the fight, Brie Larson's character shoots a shotgun in the air. You can clearly see her index finger is underneath the trigger guard making it impossible for her to shoot the firearm without a trigger pull.

Plot holes

The bomb rolls downhill for almost 8 minutes. The elevation of Rome varies between a maximum of 13m above sea level and 120 meters. There just isn't enough hill for it to roll down.

Not one single guard has a regular hand gun to shoot if their "remote controlled" automatic guns bugged.
